Herts and Beds teenagers who visited our pop up prom dress shop at The Mall Luton on Saturday (11 May) will now be able to attend their school prom in a beautiful dress.
We set up All Dressed Up in February with the aim of helping girls in families that might be struggling financially to get the perfect dress for their prom – and we did it!
Watching the transformation as the girls chose and tried on beautiful dresses they never believed they could wear was fantastic. Here are just a couple of the lovely comments we received during the day.
We couldn’t have done this without The Mall Luton, who supported us every step of the way and so many other people who donated their dresses, time, goody bags, carrier bags, shoes, make-up, clothes rails, shop decorations and so much more. A big thank you to everyone.
Lavinia Douglass, Marketing Manager at The Mall Luton said:
“When Lara approached us with her project, we knew immediately we wanted to be involved. So many of the girls that attended not only walked away with a new dress, but a new found confidence too. It was such a pleasure to be involved in this wonderful campaign.”
As well as receiving a free dress, make-up demos and prom hair advice were on offer from St Albans based make-up artist Catherine Batour, hair stylist Charlotte Jay and The Body Shop Luton.
We’re hoping that school students attending their proms this summer will think about donating their dress afterwards. We will be open again for dress donations later in the year, so keep an eye on our social media.
